Taking action to reduce your carbon footprint and live in a more responsible way is not as hard as you may think. it starts with the basic premise of the 3 R's of conservation: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

REDUCE

By far the most important part. In a nutshell: THINK BEFORE YOU BUY. Ask yourself: Do I really need to buy this new pair of shoes, or do I really need to buy the latest gadget? If the answer is yes, consider buying products which are locally produced, biodegradable, organic or re-usable.

REUSE

Think creatively about re-using things, either by finding other ways to use (think printing on scratch paper) or by donating the stuff you no longer need to others who may appreciate it and need it more than you.

RECYCLE

After reducing, and re-using, sort out your trash and find out the best way to dispose of them. It may be the Ayi (for regular waste), the composting bin (for vegetable scraps) or it may be a professional recycler (for batteries, CFLs, ink cartridges or other products that contain toxic materials).
